Lesson Plans and Agreement 2021-2022 School Year

Lesson Information and Agreement (FAQ)

**By beginning lessons with The San Diego Piano Academy, you agree to abide by this agreement.

Lessons and Scheduling

What are the lesson requirements?

There is a 3 lesson minimum per month to keep your spot reserved in our school with your teacher.

It is strongly encouraged for students to take 4 lessons per month when possible to help keep forward momentum.

Lesson materials such as books, music, metronome, etc. are the responsibility of the student.

How will my lessons be scheduled?

Your lesson will occur during the mutually agreed upon time that you set with your teacher. It will be the same day and time during the weeks selected for a given month.

To select your specific weeks in a month, Lillian, who runs administration for our academy, will reach out via email. Please respond to her with your selections by the 1st of the month.

Due to the unpredictable nature of traffic and travel, allow a 20 minute arrival window, up to 5 minutes before or 15 minutes after your scheduled lesson time. You will be notified if your teacher's arrival may fall outside of this time frame.

What happens if less than 3 lessons are taken in a given month?

If less than 3 lessons are taken in a given month or you need to miss an entire month, you are still responsible for your minimum monthly payment. Each lesson not used becomes a lesson credit that can be rescheduled.

Scheduling Lesson Credits

Lesson credits may be scheduled on the next month where 4 weeks are available or at a mutually agreed upon time between the student and teacher. For instance, if you have a lesson credit, you’ll pay the 3 lesson minimum, and use the credit on the 4th lesson of that month or it will carry over to the following month if you are unable to take 4 lessons.

**Available credits will be listed in the message section of your monthly

invoice and will not expire.**

What happens when a scheduled lesson needs to be cancelled?

If you need to cancel a scheduled lesson, and you give at least a 24 hours notice to your teacher, that lesson becomes a lesson credit that may be rescheduled. If you cancel on the same day as your scheduled lesson, the lesson will be forfeited.

Teacher Cancellation

Your teacher reserves the right to cancel a lesson at anytime. You will still pay the minimum payment. Lessons not taken become lesson credits which can be rescheduled.

How do I pay, and when is payment due?

Payment is due on or before the 3rd of every month for the full month's tuition. A $35 late fee will be added to all invoices that are not paid by the 7th of the month. All invoices will be sent out on the 1st of every month.

Please pay directly through the online invoice you receive. We do not accept cash, check, or any other form of payment.

The teacher or the student reserves the right to discontinue lessons at any time and for any reason.

*Refunds will not be given under any circumstances.*

Student Events and Recitals

What are the student recitals and events I can participate in?

2 formal student recitals are available per year at Greene Music. Participation is at the teacher's discretion.

There is a recital fee of $20 per student, per recital.

There may be other local performance opportunities, studio classes, master classes, competitions, and testing that are available at the teacher's discretion. Registration fees may apply.

What is your teacher's availability?

Your teacher will be available most weeks throughout the year.

Weeks that fall on major holidays, your teacher may be unavailable with advanced notice.

On, or next to months that have 5 possible lesson weeks, your teacher may choose to take a vacation week and will give you advanced notice.

The minimum payment is still required. Any of the 3 lessons not taken become lesson credits which can be rescheduled.

Will there be online, virtual lessons?

Yes. We have found that virtual lessons are a great way to teach and keep lessons going forward, and they are just as effective as in person lessons.

Occasionally, your teacher may need to conduct a virtual lesson due to illness or travel and this will be at the discretion of your teacher. Generally, lesson credits rescheduled as make-ups outside of your normal lesson day/time, will be virtual lessons.

If the student or anyone in the student’s home is feeling ill, please let us know immediately, and we can find a time to conduct the lesson virtually.

What is the code of conduct for these recitals?

Dress for the recital is professional attire. No tennis shoes, shorts, athletic wear, or mini skirts. Music must be memorized to participate.

Other Local Events

Will I be allowed to film the recital?

Parents will not be allowed to stand up and move around to film their child performing or take photos. You can remain seated and take video if you’d like. This is ensure there are no distractions for the performers or disruptions for the audience. We will however be filming the entire recital with professional audio and will make these videos available to each of you after the event.

*Please let us know if you are NOT comfortable with us using the recital video/photos of you or your child for promotional purposes such as our website and social media.*

Are there any special advantages if I refer a student to SDPA?
